Hello and welcome on my new blogpost, this time I will share a card for my dad, because it was his birthday this month. Making a male card is hard in my opinion, but why thinking in the box and not out of the box, no one ever said a male doesn't love a nice yellowish flower. My dad loved the card, so people don't think to hard, a flower on a card is also a nice card for male.
This card is also made in pieces over time. I know I had some inspiration making the flowers and leaves especially by colour and made some backgrounds that day too. Of course I forgot to photograph all the colours I have used, but I know some. The first stencil I used squeezed lemonade and in the centre dried marigold. On the second stencil for the flower I used mustard seed I think or a heavier amount of squeezed lemonade and in the centre some carved pumpkin. And on the last stencil with the most details I used carved pumpkin and some of the red ink left on my blending brush which I think was abandoned coral. So the flower gets more dimension this way to use several colours on one layer. In the future I will exactly notice what colours I have used, also to reproduce it myself. The leaves are blended with shabby shutters and mowed lawn in, from light handed to heavy blended.
After the blending part was done a few days went by, I was happy with this blend and didn't know if I would use the stamps or not. In the end I decided to use the stamps and layer them on the inkblended flowers and leaves and used WOW embossing ink and the WOW metallic gold rich pale super fine powder. Of course I put them in my stamping buddy and used my anti-static pouch before I use the WOW ink and powder. I am not good at layering stamps after the flowers and leaves are already blended, in the future I think I will stamp them first, but it is also nice if it is not lined up that straight.
My sentiments I keep in a small container and they are ready to use. On some days I just sit and use the sentiments from Pinkfresh and stamp them, heat emboss and diecut them, it saves me time. This one is also made with the same embossing powder and I love one stamp and one die for several sentiments, it saves me so much energy!
The background is made with the cover plate stitches from Pinkfresh Studio and my favourite paper.
When I made the layout I first put all the flowers and leaves on the card, take the sentiment too and just are busy for 15-30 minutes to decide where what will be placed. What am I giving dimension and what not and use I different layers of dimension. Yes I did. I used 3mm Heffy Doodle foamtape for the big flowers an the sentiment. For some leaves and the flowerbud I used the 2mm JeJe foamtape and the others I just glued down on the cardstock. The flowerbud I only used the foamtape beneath the bud, the leaves are just glued down to create some interest.
After all this I glued this all on my cardbase, but in the future I will glue my background first on my cardbase and after that I assemble the cardfront. It is easier to secure everything firmly. In the end it was a card made in a couple of weeks, it saved me energy and it was fun to make this card. In the beginning I had no clue and just wanted to play with the friendship blooms set and in the end it is a nice birthday card for my lovely dad.
